WeatherMan Lite App Reviews

Don’t bother

Great UI - lots of windows to cater to weather nerds and one easy to read one for those who want a simpler UI. But it stubbornly refuses to update to anything but the default city…which is in Michigan. ?!? I live in Joshua Tree, California. Needless to say, when rain is forecast for three days straight with temps in the mid-50’s F, you KNOW something isn’t right. I even tried changing the location several times, and it never worked. Plus, you can only change the default city - if you try to add more, it just changes the default location. Ugh. Steer well clear of this turkey until the devs fix its glaring flaws.

Good app.

Been using this app even before the App Store existed, and it’s always worked well for me. Lots of customization options and fairly accurate reporting.

The best for ME!!

I live in the Greater Los Angeles area so weather is always good. All I really need is temperature trend and, in winter, chance of rain info. But, if you are a weather nerd, (as I am) I love the radar and long-range forecasting. The best option for weather, imho, is Firefox’s “ForecastFox”. But, if you don’t want to use yur browser, WeatherMan Lite can’t be beat.

Clunky UI. Great App

Weatherdock stopped working a few days ago. I chose this as its replacement. I prefer this app in most ways. My two gripes: Why is the menubar text the wrong size, and why is the background a different shade of gray than the rest of my menubar? Thats poor design. The preferences UI is clunky, but once the app is set up, you wont need that anyway. On the other hand, the way the forecast is laid out in the menu is excellent. And I appreciate the ability to remove stuff from the menu that I dont want (humidity, wind speed, etc). I also like the ability to have the menubar display only the icon and temp. To the author of the app: PLEASE fix the appearance of the info in the menubar to match the look of OSX. Fix that and this is a five star app, despite the clunky UI prefs.

Lots of potential if it would stop locking up

This app was exactly what I was looking for. The only issue I have with it is that it seems to randomly freeze; meaning the display in the menubar will be visible but when you click on it for the detailed drop-down nothing happens. I have played around with it for more than a week trying to identify a cause but I cannot. Once I quit the program and relaunch it works fine for a short time (maybe an houe, maybe six hours) and then locks up again. I cannot find a correlation to the lock-ups. Its a shame because this is exactly what I wanted in a weather app.

Cant even get it to work, no support

When I launch it, it says, "Weatherman Lite is damaged and cant be opened. Delete Weatherman Lite and download it again from the App Store." Ive done that four times and still get the same message. Emailed the author about this but got no response whatsoever. I refuse to buy the paid version if hes just going to ignore me. This thing has given me more trouble in a day than Weatherdock did in years.

Not working

I just downloaded it yesterday and it seemed like it was working and accurate. I start it up today and it says its 39 degrees when its actually 64. On top of that it says its raining. It hasnt rained in two days and right this minute its mostly sunny. I figured Id write this just before I uninstall it. Sorry.

Freezes

Stays in menu bar fine on computer boot up for a couple of hours and gives weather. Then as the day goes on - it is not accessable. Click on it to get weather or forecast and nothing happens. Cant Quit it. Nothing. If I rebott it works again. Annoying. Great potential though. I too a many year user of weather dock user too. Miss that one. I uninstalled Weatherman Lite and just open my iPhone for weather. I will try again when updated.

Weather done right

Nice app, nothing fancy, just gives you the weather info you want. And, in its straight-forward simplicity, is a good replacement for the now defunct (and much-missed) WeatherDock. I like it!

Not accurate

This app seemed to be a good substitute for WeatherDock, but it is so grossly inaccurate that it is useless. The temperature displayed now is 24°F when both my outdoor thermometers and The Weather Channel are showing 35°.

Good, but could be better

I use this app to replace WeatherDock by Alwin Troost which stopped working in November due to a license change. I use it exclusively in the menu bar. It does the job but there are several things Id like improved. Id gladly buy the paid version of this app for these enhancements but it doesnt appear that the other version offers these options. Some ways the app could be improved: 1. The font looks off. The text is several pixels higher than the menu bar clock and is possibly larger as well. 2. The icons are not that great. Some higher quality graphics would be appreciated. 3. The yellow notification badge is frequently on the icon in the menu bar. I dont know what that means but it looks ugly and Id prefer if it didnt appear. 4. It pollutes my console log every with 30 lines every 5 minutes with "WeatherMan Lite: CGPointApplyInverseAffineTransform: singular matrix." No need for that.

how u change the location ?

how you change the location ?

Wrong Temps

Im not sure about the National Weather Service temp information. My iPhone always has the correct temperature, but this app on my Mac does not. It is in fact consistently wrong for my city, which is near Detroit. If that is fixed (or perhaps use a different weather service?) then it would be great.

Won

Keep trying it but for some reason it wont lookup NYC Wierd

Lookup for US City Not Working

Please fix this ASAP.

Free garbage

waste of space. will not look up local location (cleveland ohio) and just gives " lookup error". Dont waste your time.

Not accurate.

Displayed temperature is more than 15 degrees off in my location. Unusable.

Nice quick glance weather app

Im very thankful this is free, but it would be nice if you were able to get weather from at least 2 locations.

Not accurate.

The UI is great, there are a ton of options, and you can tweak it to display all or as little information as youd like. It sounds great doesnt it? Only…its not accurate, at all! I even tried to manually insert my longitude and latitude, tried different cities near me - even big cities - still a no go. If it says its 55 degrees out now when its really 70, I cant imagine how inaccurate it will be when its 95 degrees outside. Hopefully this is fixed as I love the idea of the app but as of now it kind of defeats the purpose of having a weather application.
