WeatherMan Lite App Reviews

Busy Idle bug, do NOT use ESPECIALLY on laptops

This software worked well for quite a while (since I had to give up Son of Weather Grok), but a while ago it started running my wife’s CPU to 100%, which is clearly a major problem - especially on a laptop, where it kills the battery quickly. Recently it started doing it on my Air as well. Time to look for another program. :-( Prior to this problem, this was a 3.5 star program - adequate, not great.

No Support for Dark Menus in Yosemite

Version 2.7.0 “Update for Yosemite Compatibility” is NOT compatible with the Dark Menubar function of Yosemite. Please fix or restate that it is not fully compatible with Yosemite Other than that when you can actually see the weather in the menubar it’s great!

A great weather app

This is a great app for weather forecast that shows important weather information on a minimalist interface. These are all seem to be accurate and updates itself quite spontaneously. I really liked the and continue to be my favorite.

Worthy Meteorologist Replacement

WeatherMan Lite is very functional without being intrusive. You can run it in the menubar only, as I prefer, or you can have an icon in the dock offering information too. Apart from it’s appearance it is very much like Meteorologist. The lite version is fully functional, the only feature missing is showing weather for multiple locations. My one and only complaint thus far is that I cannot set it to desplay Celcius only, you can show Fahrenheit only or Fahrenheit AND Celcius, but not Celcius only. Beyond that one tiny issue I love WeatherMan Lite. And I FINALLY deleted Meteorologist after all these years of not working.

works

minimal if desired, you can have just the temperature in the menubar and nothing else, which is what I was looking for. thanks for the app

not bad

I agree that it’s a worthy Meteorologist replacement, but can we get some hi-rez icons???

Terrible limitation that makes this software useless to most

I have tried to think of a reason to not give an option to display temperatures in celsius only. Because of the ridiculous limitation of displaying imperial only, or imperial and metric - the temperature will only display in the menu bar in fahrenheit. A shocking limitation that simply beggars belief. Developer - nearly every nation outside of the United States uses the metric system. Why on earth would people residing in those countries want to see an old, long superseded temperature scale displayed in their menu bar? More importantly (to you) - why would you deliberately cripple your software by effectively limiting sales to US citizens only?? Just in case you skipped this lesson in school: US population - approx 322 million, Global population - 7.3 billion. Doesnt take a rocket scientist to work out where the greatest revenue potential will come from. Aside from that crazy limitation, it’s a relatively decent app. I would probably have paid for the full version. Unfortunately, in it’s current state it is useless to me.

not showing forecast

every update the current weather icon disappears showing a question mark instead. I mean every single update. Why is this so difficult a piece of code to remedy?

Worked at first, bugs showed up later

The menu bar text does not change- stays grey. Since my menu bar has custom colors, it blends in. Fix, please!

CLUMSY, INACCURATE, & DIFFICULT

Title says it all.

Defaults back to Muskegon, MI

This app has many good features, but I find it very frustrating that it keeps defaulting back to Muskegon, MI every time the computer is restarted. I have tried to set my home city repeatedly to no avail. I highlight my city and click “make home” but the next time I log in, it’s set back to Muskegon. I’m this close to deleting the app. Please fix!

it’s FREE folks

Like many who download apps and don’t bother to learn set up, I see a lot of negative reviews posted that potential users should take with a grain of salt. There is a learning curve, but there’s no contest as to Weatherman’s accuracy compared to other offerings. I trashed Meteorologist, a mac staple, for Weatherman because its current developer can’t seem to get the bugs fixed. Before you spam AfterTens virtually full-featured FREE piece of software, take the time to set it up properly. In fact, I liked the FREE offering so much, I purchased the paid version. One nit; make the weather icons clearer and sharper for retina displays.
